Flagship Projects / Family Matters York: Branding & Web Development

Family Matters York

Initiation: Family Matters York got in contact with JH Designs via a referral, and after an initial conversation about the scope of the project, I got to work on brand development and website design.

Brand Development Process

Intial Consultation

Beginning with a brief overview of the charity, the vision for the visual brand I got to work creating a set of distinct and original logos to discuss with the client

Development

Bringing 5 designs to the client, we considered together the ways that the logo designs represented the charity, and what worked and what didn’t. We took two designs forward and developed them.

Twists & Turns

This is part of the process, and is totally normal when working with wider teams. Though asking useful questions, we refined and honed what we looked at, and came closer to the final design. Colours and fonts were locked in and we landed on a visual identity.

Finalising

After the twists and turns, we arrived a final logo and wider visual identity that the client, trustees, and wider team were really happy with. The new branding kick started the charities digital marketing on socials, and aided them in talking about the great services they offer.

Web Development Process

Initial Designs

Working with the branding, I developed some initial designs based on the specficiation of the client. This gave us a base to work from, and to discuss the specifics. This involved developing some sub-branding for the different areas of the charity.

Final Website Design

The final design was exactly what the client was looking for – a place to present their services, add and change information, and sell their courses.

Future Proof

Developing a website on WordPress guarentees that the client is able to manage the website going forward, and make changes to the site. Additionally, the client will be able to add additional functionality to the site further down the line and isn’t tied in to one platform’s offering.

From the client

“Jack’s ability to see what would work practically and implement it based on our abstract ideas was particularly appreciated! …the ability to envision a final product based on ideas given is a key strength”
